My name is Olaf Lugten, and I craft custom and handmade watch straps with dedication and passion. DStrap is a one‑man workshop in Alkmaar, the Netherlands, where every strap is made by hand from start to finish. No mass production, just craftsmanship and materials with real character.

Each DStrap is built to order and shaped exactly to your specifications. From cutting the materials to the final stitching, every detail is done by hand to create a handmade watch strap that is authentic, unique and personal.

Upcycled Materials for Handmade Watch Straps

I work with premium leathers, but a large part of my craft focuses on upcycling. I repurpose vintage military ammunition bags, belts and other historic materials, giving them a second life as handmade watch straps with character. Even your old boots or favourite sneakers can be transformed into a custom strap with a story of its own.

Sustainable Handmade Watch Straps from the Netherlands

By reusing canvas and leather, each strap reduces waste and gives these materials a new purpose. Every mark, stencil and colour variation reflects the original life of the material, making every handmade watch strap truly one of a kind.

THE STORY BEHIND

My motto: “I believe that buying a DStrap should be a great experience and a true gift to yourself!”

DStrap was born in 2009 from a mix of enthusiasm and frustration!
After buying my first 24mm watch strap for 90 euros, it arrived in a wrinkled plastic bag and shrank the moment I gently cleaned it with water, despite being advertised as “water resistant.” Disappointed, I returned to the store, where they replaced it only after lecturing me on why you should “never clean a leather strap with water,” leaving me with the feeling that something better, more honest, and more crafted needed to exist.

DStrap maakt in Alkmaar handgemaakte horlogebanden van premium leer en authentiek Nederlands militair canvas, volledig op maat voor jouw horloge, jouw pols en jouw stijl. In deze eenmanswerkplaats draait alles om vakmanschap, karakter en degelijkheid, geen massaproductie, maar puur Nederlands ambacht met materialen die een verhaal vertellen. Na het maken van een afspraak ben je welkom in de werkplaats en winkel, waar elke DStrap met de hand wordt vervaardigd en geschikt is voor vrijwel alle horlogemerken.
